A quick note about RHONY Season 15:
The RHONY reboot seemed to start off with a bang, and after much mourning of the OG RHONY cast after it was announced that the franchise would be rebooted (even though we all know season 13 was TERRIBLE), Season 14 wowed us all—it was GREAT. But, it the rebooted cast’s season 15 is kind of blah so far. And fans seem to be quickly turning on one of the breakout stars, Brynn. I thought about also recapping RHONY—but I don’t have the energy for it in the midst of job-searching so c’est le vie (or chic c’est le vie, if you prefer).
Okay onto what we’re here for:
Alright, alright, alright. I will say, I’m not sure this season of SLC is as great as the last four were. There really is no clear villain, and the ladies are all kind of fighting about nothing. But the end of this episode did get a little spicier.
The episode centers around Angie’s mob wife anniversary party—and you know, kudos to Angie K. for grabbing onto the Meredith’s shade from last season and turning it into a branding opportunity.
This makes me want to experiment with a mob wife makeup look. I haven’t gone like FULL FULL out makeup coverage since maybe like 2019?
We get set up of Lisa discussing her ongoing fight with Angie with her husband and son—and like I’m just already tired of their fight. It’s just, it-it ain’t it. I can’t really remember what the origin of it is, and until Bronwyn so helpfully steps in later, Angie doesn’t even fully know why Lisa is mad at her.
Then we move on to Whitney and Meredith having a little meet up. Whitney apologizes for going in so hard on Meredith about the Prism/Alibaba of it all—yawn. Tells Mere that she thinks Lisa Barlow is really behind the whole thing and lawyer Meredith urges caution.
Why are all of these women so afraid of Lisa Barlow!? Truly?
Then we cut to Mary waiting for Bronwyn to arrive at her house. Her relationship with her son (I guess it can almost go without saying) is so so strange. It’s like she just wants him to stay in this state of arrested development—and for him to rely on her. A tad bit creepy—but oh well.
Bronwyn arrives and she and Mary bond over a shared sense of style and their children’s lack of having grandparents in their lives. Bronwyn attempts to open up about her situation with her daughter’s grandparents, and either Mary hijacks the conversation or the producers did her dirty. Either is plausible.
The Mob Wives of it All
I do think Bronwyn made her strongest housewife showing this episode.
I loved her take on the theme. It was mob wife—but original. Everyone else showed as either Casino or Sopranos cosplay.
She came to play the game, and stir the pot. Quote of the episode “If Heather is not meddling, then bitch neither am I.”
Bronwyn said Heather, I will not be produced by you—and I will make my mark on this damn show. And kudos, to you. At some point, Bronwyn says fuck it let’s go tell Angie what’s going on since Angie seems to be the only one who doesn’t know.
And I guess Angie at first doesn’t really believe Bronwyn because when she takes this to Heather, she seems not to believe it. Angie was being a good friend, she gave Heather benefit of the doubt—and is shocked to believe that Heather is in fact being a messy bitch, and told Lisa Barlow that Angie thinks Lisa is a “bad mom.” Heather’s taken strange turn this season. As Bronwyn said, she is starting a bunch of little fires and walking a way from them.
Mary’s refusal to accept that Britani did not arrive with Jared Osmond was the funniest shit. Okay, bringing Mary back full-time was a good decision—keep her on whatever sedatives she’s on.
At another point, Mary, Angie, and Heather all get into it over their little scuffle at zip-lining—and it seems like it’s about to get interesting but the fight’s resolved almost as quickly as it’s started. The funniest thing to come out of it is Mary sitting next to tween girls and out of nowhere exasperatedly saying “women,” to them, but that she was letting it go.
Back to the Heather, Angie, Bronwyn of it all. Heather’s like “let’s go talk to Bronwyn.” So, they go, and Heather’s like “how dare you get in Angie’s ear.” And Bronwyn is unfazed. Heather’s there’s a new bitch in town.
All of this is super ceded by the man no one (except I guess maybe Heather, who was weirdly happy to have this man here. Hey, Heather-if Britani is your friend, like maybe back a girl up here?) Jared Osmond. God, can we PLEASE be done with this storyline? I can’t. He’s not interesting. And he’s slimy, and creepy. Britani, I assure you this man did come to this party to cause drama, and he just wants to be on tv.
The episode ends with another storyline I don’t really care about, but I guess it was somewhat exciting. Whitney confronts Lisa Barlow with the intel that she thinks that she was the one who planted the info that her jewelry line was from Alibaba.
Lisa reacts…violently, and threatens to sue the person who suggested this. Maybe this is why the women are afraid of her. Lisa Barlow, I’m sorry but you are a bully. She calls her security guy to investigate these claims and says they’re “going the distance” on these allegations. I don’t know, personally, I think people who react this strongly are usually guilty. But, I could be wrong.
What do you all think?
